Handy Hints
===========
• A number of keyboard short cuts make it easier to preview a DVI file:
- Type "o" to bypass the view dialog and open the most recently viewed page.
- Type "w" to close the view window.
- Type "i" to see page info.
- Type "b" to move to the bottom of the previous page.
- Type "n" to move to the top of the next page.
- Type "g" to go to a given page and restore the default view.
- Type "<num>g" to go to DVI page <num> (eg. "12g" will go to DVI page 12).
- Type "<num>t" to go to TeX page <num> (eg. "13t" will go to TeX page 13).
- Type "[" to go back one HyperTeX link.
- Type "]" to go forward one HyperTeX link.
- Type "f" to change the scale to full view.
- Type "a" to change the scale to actual size.
- Type "d" to toggle the dither option (System 7 or later is required).
- Type "h" (or Home) to go to the first page and restore the default view.
- Type "e" (or End) to go to the last page and restore the default view.
- Hit the space bar (or Page Down) to scroll forwards.
- Hit the Delete key (or Page Up) to scroll backwards.
- Hit the arrow keys to scroll just like clicking in the scroll bar arrows.
- Hit the Return key to toggle between the view window and OzTeX window.
• While viewing a DVI file:
- Click to temporarily magnify the area under the cursor. However, if the
cursor is over a HyperTeX link then OzTeX will follow that link.
- Command-click to zoom in by decrementing the scale factor.
- Option-click to zoom out by incrementing the scale factor.
- Shift-click to zoom out by doubling the scale factor.
- Option-Command-click to zoom in by halving the scale factor, or
hold down the mouse button and drag to zoom in to a selected rectangle.
- The box in the lower left corner of the view window shows the position of
the cross cursor in paper coordinates. Click in this box to change units.
• TeX always creates its .log and .dvi files in the current folder.
A number of menu items (such as "TeX...") bring up the standard dialog box
allowing you to change folders and select a certain file. OzTeX makes the
last displayed folder the current folder, even if you choose to Cancel.
Remember this if you want to run INITEX in a particular folder.
• When printing to a PostScript printer, the status window remains open until
the very last page is printed. If you are printing multiple copies of a
single page then it is safe to hit Command-dot after the first copy has
been printed.
• The output resulting from the Show item in the Config menu can be used to
create a syntactically correct configuration file.
• Hit Command-dot or the Escape key to interrupt lengthy tasks. These keys
can also be used to cancel any dialog box with a Cancel button.
